St. Patrick's Day 2022. Battling loss by sloppily running classics through the crusher.
Pigeon on the Gate. Reel taken from _Traditional Irish Music: Tunes from the repertory of William Sullivan (as recorded on Sampler 8808)_, Sampler Records, Rochester, NY: March 1989. Melody played on 0-Coast with Arturia Keystep MIDI controller, with gates out to a VCA controlling a Trogotronic 669 and a homebuilt 556/4040 tone generator w/ CV-controllable pitch and a VCF, through an Abominable Unholy Grail Reverb/Delay/Boost pedal. Fake pipes from Synthrotek Nandamonium. What passes for rhythm tracks tapped out on both Trogotronic and 556/4040. Played slow because that's what worked.
The Swallowtail. Jig adapted from a tune posted on The Session (
thesession.org/tunes/106/32865 - added by user NfldWhistler). Similar instrumentation to Pigeon on the Gate, except rhythm track played with a jaw harp stolen from my dad.
The Parting Glass. Ballad w/ acoustic guitar, 0-Coast, Nandamonium, some vocals recorded through a Barky Box from Crank Sturgeon.
Everything recorded in Reaper, where some reverb was added to vocals.
Cover photo thanks to my child, who turned a "Happy St. Patrick's Day" banner into a "Shit Party" banner.
Please enjoy or not, but don't pay (otherwise I will donate to a worthy cause)!
